About Us
The Magic City Choral Society is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit community based choral organization that was founded in October 2006 by Dr. Joseph Paul Dease. A men's chorus, which now numbers close to 90 men, was formed in October 2007, and a woman's chorus, which numbers 35 women, was formed in September 2008. Twice a year each chorus holds two open rehearsals for new potential members to come "try us out" - new potential members audition us. The men's and women's choruses are open without audition to any adult male or female.
Performance through education is the core philosophy. Driving this philosophy is the notion that musical performance is a behavior that can be observed, measured, and therefore, taught. If you have the desire to learn, the ability and patience to persist, you will be given the tools to have a successful choral experience in the Magic City Choral Society. It is an experience best described by our name - magical!
In addition to performance through education, the Magic City
Choral Society is committed to being a good citizen. Being a
good citizen mean's giving back. Since all of our concerts are
free, we will ask audience member to participate with us in some
kind of "giving back"
project. Recently we have taken up non-perishable food for the
Southside Baptist Church Food Bank which feed more than 100 families. "To
those who are given much, much is expected," will
always guide us as we seek to pay forward the generosity of audience,
donors, advertisers, and corporate sponsors.
